Children and Teens
Art is a natural form of play and communication for children. Art therapy provides a safe place to explore feelings and express emotions with art materials. Younger children benefit from making art in art therapy to work through difficult emotions, powered by their imagination and supported by the therapist.
Older children and teens benefit in similar ways, growing up and learning who they are and how to best navigate their world- art therapy can help provide a positive outlet for exploring one’s identity and developing tools for understanding themselves and the world around them. Sessions begin with a verbal check in and then usually art making (using drawing materials, paint, clay collage, etc.) and end with verbal processing.
